PREVIOUS PRODUCTION

Alligator Crocodile

Written by Julie Wilson
Directed by Jim Curtis

Wednesday 1st October - Saturday 4th October 2008

I wonder if Julie realises that every time she writes a play for us, she sets herself a bigger target for the next. This is her fifth and another comedy in which there were, I’m sure, parts we could all relate to...!

Well done to all involved in whatever way, and like Jim says…here’s to the next one...

As Julie herself admits, the idea for the play came out of her fascination for families and their idiosyncrasies. And this show certainly had plenty of them! She has proved her ability over and again and we are very fortunate to have her in our group. Long may her fascination continue, but just watch what you tell her!

Putting it on in itself was a drama, what with a late start due to the ongoing show, the fact that the play wasn’t even finished (I suppose that we could have made it into a trilogy!), cast holidays and then the illnesses of various cast and crew, I did wonder if it would be ready in time.
However, everyone pulled together in true KMP fashion and we did produce a wonderful show that was enjoyed and appreciated by our audiences.

The show was adjudicated for the Play Festival on the Thursday and the adjudicator, whilst not divulging her result, was very complimentary to all of the cast and crew and said that she’d had a very good evening and that it was refreshing to see a brand new play.

My thanks to all concerned in the production and especially to Julie for writing it and co-directing, without which it would not nearly have been ready; to Colin for the set, which he did almost single handed and without complaint even when we kept changing it at short notice; to Charley for keeping the whole thing running so smoothly; to Sam and Wayne for their faultless delivery of the light and sound; to Mike for prompting and knowing the difference between the long pauses and abject panic; and to Sue and Alison for the props and set, and also to Sue for standing in as booking secretary when we were all so concerned about Mike.

I would like to thank the entire cast for their dedication and input over the past few months,
and I include Victoria in that as she added so much whilst she was involved.

And finally, it would be remiss of me if I didn’t thank and compliment Jane Buchanan for stepping into an important and demanding role at such short notice, particularly as it’s so long since she has acted on stage.

So, here’s to the next Wilson production. In the meantime ………………. alligator ……..

FUTURE PRODUCTION

Melons at the Parsonage

Written by Nick Warburton
Directed by Jack Bull

March 2009

We will be entering this comedy play into the One Act Festival next March, and it tells the story of a running battle between two opposing and contrasting groups of actors, 'Frantic Jam' and the 'Bletchworth Players'...

'When two companies become joint winners of a local drama festival the rules decree a tie breaker. Each group must perform an extract from its own play and then an extract from the opposing team's entry. The pieces are very different - one a traditional murder mystery featuring a vicar, a maid and a spinster, the other a piece of dark experimental art, full of symbolic meanings.'

There will be auditions on
Sunday 26th October from 2pm at the Village Hall.

The cast required is as follows:-

Iris Cowley

chairperson any age 18+

Ted Withers

adjudicator any age 18+

Vicar

male Late 30’s/early 40’s

Maid

female Mid to late 20’s

Spinster

female 40+

Jam 1

male 12/13

Jam 2

male/female 14/15

Jam 3

female 10/11

Also needed are some non speaking roles, ages for these are immaterial

All the ages are of course a rough guide. Don’t let them stop you auditioning.
If you are involved in Cinderella or Panto Pick and Mix don’t worry, the rehearsals will not clash.
Copies of the script are available from Jack Bull - he hopes to see lots of you there!

If anyone else wants to have a go at directing a One Act Play, please contact any committee member.
